 Historian and psychologist known for his work preserving and sharing Florida's Black history through his books, documentaries, and advocacy, despite facing discrimination during his life and recent challenges to his scholarship. Born in DeLand, Florida, during the Jim Crow era, his career began with a naval service after earning his doctorate and has since included a professorship at Florida International University, the founding of the Dr. Marvin Dunn Academy for Community Education, and the establishment of the Miami Center for Racial Justice
