The Key Biscayne Community Foundation, Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center, and Friends of Cape Florida invite you to join us for an exclusive viewing of Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center’s 2022 Emmy Award-winning short film, The Life of Bill Baggs.

After the film screening, we'll host a reception honoring Theodora Long's seven years of leadership as President of Friends of Cape Florida.

The film answers the question, “Who was Bill Baggs?” and tells why Cape Florida State Park bears his name.

We’ll see Baggs’ influence brought to life through stories of headline-making historical events, newspaper clippings from his 3,000 Miami News columns, and a scenic tour of areas of Miami connected to Baggs' volume of work.

Based on the book, "A Nervous Man Shouldn't Be Here in the First Place: The Life of Bill Baggs," by Amy Condon, the film follows a nearly 13-year journey telling Baggs’ story as one of the most visionary and significant newspaper columnists and editors during the mid-20th Century.

Guests include Author Amy Condon and Emmy award-winning videographers & editors Patrick and Anne Longstreth.

Suggested donation of $40. All proceeds will benefit the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center on Key Biscayne.

All attendees must register to participate in this event.
